Upcoming Events for The Classic Exhibits Family

Word on the Street by Kevin Carty

Not only is this “the busy” season, but this is also a busy time for events at Classic.

First, Club 815 Fundraiser

The time is finally here. The Fundraiser Ride for Mike and Janet Swartout is this Saturday, September 22. Yes, it’s the culmination of months of training, but more importantly, it’s the culmination of your tremendous support for Classic’s Design Director, Mike Swartout, who is battling cancer. Thanks to those who have been so very generous by contributing to the team that includes Joel Roy from Creative Dimension, Greg Garrett from Greg Garrett Designs, David Brown from Optima Graphics, Tony Ricci from Optima Graphics and his lovely wife Betsy, Mel White, Charlie Shivel and me from Classic, and my step-father Grant Murrell.

Your donations and support have been nothing short of humbling. Many have been asked us to resend the information so you can still donate. It certainly is not too late. Jut click this link to support our team. And remember to let us know if there is anyone in your life that we can ride “In Memory of” or “In Honor of” as we scale Mt. Hood next Saturday.

Special note to our team –Guys and Gal, I truly am honored by your participation and really look forward to spending a couple days together riding, hanging out, and recovering. It’s going to be fun. And I know I speak for Mike and Janet when I say “Thank You” for your inspiring willingness to take on this challenging event.

Shared Knowledge University (SKU)

After the ride, Shared Knowledge University starts at Classic Exhibits Monday morning September 24. The training will be two comprehensive days for experienced and new Classic Distributors.

Like the last SKU event, we will cover everything from product training to procedures to design to project management for Classic Exhibits, Classic Rentals, Eco-systems Sustainable, and ClassicMODUL.

Optima will be there to give a graphics presentation. And you will have the opportunity to spend time and meet all the Classic Exhibit employees that you work with everyday on the phone.

Like any event, it can’t all be work. 🙂 We have two evening events planned that the attendees will really like. Both located at very unique and very “Portland” venues.

To those who are registered, I am really looking forward to seeing you and showing why I think Classic Exhibits and its employees are simply the best.

A little teaser . . . To those distributors who have Exhibit Design Search on their website, expect BIG, BIG changes this week. The new EDS is done, Version 3.2. You can see it on Classic’s website now. It will appear on your website sometime this week. Expect a blog post from Mel in the next day or two detailing all the changes.  They are significant!

Hope you all have a great week ahead. Be well.

Shared Knowledge University (SKU): Word on the Street — April 16th thru April 20th

Classic Exhibits SKU--Shared Knowledge University

Word on the Street by Kevin Carty

Class is in Session

For seven years, we have been committed to “Shared Success.” The concept is simple: What can we do to make our distributors better and to help them be more successful. Their success, in turn, makes us more successful. It requires listening, sharing, and implementing ideas to serve them and their customers.

For the past four years, we’ve talked about “Shared Knowledge.” Shared Knowledge is our commitment to make as much information as possible available to our distributors via our website, our design database, and our past order database. This IP has proven to be invaluable to selling Classic exhibits to your clients. For example, many of the kits on Exhibit Design Search include links to the set-up instructions, graphic dim sheets, and photos of those kits (and variations of those kits).

Shared Knowledge University (SKU)

Now we are embarking on the next phase of this program: SKU — Shared Knowledge University. SKU is a comprehensive group training program at the Classic Exhibits facility in Portland Oregon, the first one will be held Monday and Tuesday, April 23rd and 24th.

Product training is not new to us. We average about one training session every three weeks, but those trainings have been small one-on-one sessions with a distributor and/or their sales team.

Shared Knowledge UniversitySKU is much the same, but also different. There will be 24 people from 10 companies for a group training schedule. The training promises to be comprehensive and intensive over two full days. It will include all the Classic Exhibits lines, as well as ClassicMODUL Aluminum Extrusion, Classic Rentals, Eco-Systems Sustainable Exhibits (by Eric Albery) and Optima Graphics (by David Brown).

The Eco-systems and Optima sessions will focus on their products and services and highlight how their companies partner with Classic Exhibits.

To say we are “excited” for Monday and Tuesday is to minimize how we are approaching these two days. Mel and I see it as our next step in supporting Shared Success.

For those attending, we look forward to seeing you and to having some good “off hours” fun as well. We are excited to show you what Portland offers during our dinner excursions.

For the rest of you, I will report back on the training and hope you will partake in this new program. We plan to make SKU a regular event three times a year. We will announce the next session soon, most likely in September.

On another note.  Business continues to be positive. We thank you for your business and hope you are experiencing the same success.

Have a great weekend!

New Outdoor Display Products Gallery

March 28th, 2012 COMMENTS

Outdoor Display Products -- BansheeWe love to share good news about Exhibit Design Search.

There’s a brand new gallery in EDS — Outdoor Display Products. This Optima Graphics gallery includes 11 popular outdoor products, such as Banshee, Kapow, Ridgeline, and Valet. There’s even a listing for Event Tents. As with many of the new features in EDS, the gallery was added at the request of several Classic Distributors. And the timing couldn’t be better with Spring at hand and Summer just a few months away. Our thanks to Gary Camarato at Optima for all his hard work on this gallery.

To make room for the Outdoor Displays gallery, we shifted Table Throws to the Banner Stand gallery, which has now been named Banner Stands / Table Throws. It contains the full selection from both categories.

Exhibit Specials and Red Tags

Exhibit Specials in Exhibit Design SearchYou may have noticed a “Red Tag” feature in EDS. About two weeks ago, we made it much easier to find our bimonthly Exhibit Specials. You could always find them in the Exhibit Specials Gallery. We’ve now added a visual “Red Tag” to the image whenever a product is on special. If the special includes a price discount, there will be a strike-through of the original price and a new red-line price. You’ll see the “Red Tag” specials both in the Exhibit Specials gallery and in the original “parent” gallery of the product(s). For example, select Visionary Designs inlines and islands and scroll down. You’ll see quite a few specials. These specials run through May 31.

Eco-Systems Sustainable Designs

Lastly, I want to give a pat on the back to Eco-systems Sustainable. Over the past two months, they have added lots and lots of new trade show display designs to the eSmart Display gallery. If you haven’t visited the gallery recently, I encourage you to take a stroll through their update offerings. Lots of cool designs whether your client wants an eco-friendly display or simply a modern hybrid design. We keep hearing from distributors that your customers are asking, “What’s new and fresh?” Take a look in the eSmart gallery.

EXHIBITOR 2012 Video

Here’s a video about our booth, the first in a series leading up to the EXHIBITOR 2012 Show. We’re working with Tim Patterson, otherwise known as “The Tradeshow Guy.” You’ve probably read his wonderful blog, www.tradeshowguy.com. This video reveals two concepts, one proposed by me and the other by Mel White, our VP of Marketing and Business Development.

Mel’s idea is stupid. Mine is brilliant. Let us know what you think . . . and feel free to share.

Reminders:

  1. We will host a Distributor Appreciation Reception on Tuesday, March 6 beginning at 3:30 in Mandalay Bay. Please stop by our booth (#1645) on either Monday or Tuesday for the location. We are hosting this reception in conjunction with Eco-Systems Sustainable Exhibits.
  2. Marlys Arnold, author of Build a Better Trade Show Image, will be in our booth on Monday and Tuesday from 11:30 to 12:30. She’ll be happy to discuss her book, trade show marketing, or any other questions you may have about trade show training.
  3. Tim Patterson, a.k.a. The Tradeshow Guy, will be in the booth as well to discuss SocialMediaEventMarketingU.com. Tim is the guru on all things social marketing when it comes to trade shows. Tim will also be video blogging and tweeting throughout the show.
  4. In addition to our booth, there will be approximately 6-7 Classic Exhibits display builds on the show floor. We’ll be happy to take you on a tour and show you the designs — both rental and purchase.

Eco-Systems Sustainable and Classic Exhibits Partner at Greenbuild Expo

November 28th, 2011 COMMENTS

Demand for Green Exhibit Systems Increases

The October 2011 Greenbuild Conference and Expo in Toronto, Ontario drew over 23,000 attendees. Greenbuild Expo showcases innovative products and services that exemplify how to use “green” to grow businesses. With over 1,700 exhibiting companies at this year’s event, the demand for eco-friendly tradeshow exhibits was higher than ever.

As in past years, Eco-Systems Sustainable Exhibits and its manufacturing partner Classic Exhibits Inc. played a pivotal role in supplying exhibitors with sustainable exhibit options at Greenbuild.  This year, there were over 30 companies with Eco-systems displays, ranging from 10 x 10 inlines to 20 x 30 islands. Eco-Systems has designed and built displays for Greenbuild exhibitors since 2008.

More and more companies are realizing the benefit of marketing their products and services while incorporating a “green display,” especially at an event such as Greenbuild.

According to Tim Morris, President of Eco-Systems, “The high attendance at Greenbuild Expo demonstrates the increasing demand for green products and services not only in North American but also worldwide. We are excited to offer companies an eco-friendly, high-design option for marketing their products at tradeshows, whether at eco-centric shows such as Greenbuild or at any other show or event.”

Eco-Systems designs exhibits using materials such as bamboo, recycled aluminum extrusion, graphics made from recycled soda bottles, and much more.  These materials form the foundation for displays ranging from banner stands to islands, including eco-friendly hybrid and pop up displays.  The strategic partnership between Eco-Systems and Classic Exhibits allows Eco-Systems to focus on exhibit design and green product research. Classic Exhibits provides the manufacturing expertise at its large manufacturing facility on the West Coast. Classic’s manufacturing efficiencies have been pivotal Eco-Systems’ growth.

“Our partnership with Eco-Systems has been financially beneficial and socially rewarding,” said Mel White, VP of Marketing and Business Development at Classic. “We’ve incorporated green practices throughout our facility, from recycling most materials to purchasing recycled products such as our foam, roto-molded cases, and aluminum extrusion. And in most cases, the recycled products have been less expensive. We are proud to be a strategic and financial partner of Eco-Systems.”

Eco-Systems Sustainable Exhibits and Classic Exhibits continue to innovate their green display products and manufacturing practices. With the 2012 Greenbuild Conference and Expo in San Francisco, CA, Eco-Systems and Classic Exhibits hope to play a pivotal role in supplying exhibitors with sustainable exhibit options.

Greenbuild International 2011

Eco-Systems Sustainable Exhibits is the first green-built portable-modular exhibit system in the industry developed with environmentally and socially responsible materials benchmarked to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System of the U.S. Green Building Council.  Eco-Systems Displays are built using a variety of materials derived from recycled content, rapidly renewable materials, and recyclable materials.
