Under $3K to $25K Display Brochures

July 14th, 2015 COMMENTS

I’m getting old, but not too old to learn from my mistakes. Over the past year, I’ve largely ignored printed sales collateral as a tool for Classic Distributors. That’s not to say we haven’t created high quality PDF’s (such as iPad and Surface Stands and NEO and Express Furniture), but they have been mostly promotional sheets, not product line brochures. My feeling was — It’s all online on the Classic website or in Exhibit Design Search.

Recently, we updated the “Under $3K” sheets. This 10-page PDF shows selective kits Under $3K, $6K, $12K, $18K, and $24K. I was surprised at the response. Distributors told me how much they love these for two reasons:

  1. It’s an easy, manageable introduction to kits within a price point range. Plus, it allows potential clients to quickly see designs ranging from table tops to custom-hybrid inlines. The PDF isn’t a replacement for Exhibit Design Search. Rather it’s a quick, easily-digestible overview.
  2. It’s a great piece to email or as a “leave behind” after a meeting. A client can save, print, and share it. Plus, it’s attractive and instructive.

We invite you to download the Unbranded and Classic version. It’s also available in the Distributor Section of the Classic website.

Over the next two months, we will create a series of one-page product brochures. They’ll be in Exhibit Design Search, shown as a thumbnail, as well in the Distributor Section. The Visionary Design version is finished. Expect similar sheets for Quadro, SEGUE, Perfect 10, Magellan, and several other lines.

So, this is my public mea culpa. I apologize… AND I’m committed to making it right.

Hidden Gems in Exhibit Design Search

Hot Lookiloos

With over 1400 kits in Exhibit Design Search, some compelling designs simply get lost in the shuffle. It happens… but it’s still sad. So we asked our experts — the project managers, designers, and territory managers from Classic Exhibits and Eco-systems Sustainable — to select designs they felt should get more “street cred.”  Be sure to click on the images below to read their comments.

A Humbling Lesson About 10 ft. Displays

July 23rd, 2014 COMMENTS

520-10X8-2Safety in Numbers

Over the years, I’ve learned a humbling lesson. There’s safety in numbers when it comes to 10 ft. inline trade show displays. Most exhibitors choose the predictable over the bold, the safe over the dramatic. And while I understand, I also don’t understand. Yes, budget is a factor. Fear too. No one wants to make the wrong decision when purchasing a display. It’s easier to choose something you’ve seen on the show floor rather than a design that’s unfamiliar.

Too often, I’m disappointed when I walk the trade show floor and review the inlines. I see banner stands pretending not to be banner stands. I see weak, pixelated graphics on pop up displays. I see boring pillowcase frames with fuzzy 4-color graphics and cheap hybrid displays with gaping parts and pieces. Sadly, most arts and craft fair exhibits are more creative than the typical corporate inline display.

Now before you think I’m picking on low-cost displays, I’m not. A similar trend can be found in more expensive displays, where the quality is better but design still takes a backseat to predictability.

Taking Chances

So, why the reluctance to take chances? Is it because, as someone once told me, “No one ever got fired for buying a pop up.” That said, I’m going to take a chance, albeit one that’s a bit self-promotional. Below are displays from Exhibit Design Search that do not fall within the “safe zone.” I’d enjoy hearing your thoughts about these designs, understanding that none are below $8000. Some considerably more. These design sell, but not in the same numbers as Sacagawea, Magellan Miracle, or a VK-1321.

Put your customer glasses on, share your thoughts from a buyer’s perspective, and vote for your favorites. In this election, it’s OK to vote for more than one. 😉

Please share your comments. Thanks.

RECENT Exhibit Design Search Updates (see the GIFs)

Your Branded Exhibit Design Search

Nearly every month, we push functional or visual changes to your branded Exhibit Design Search website. Some you may notice. Some you may not.

Do you want to know a secret? I’m a obsessed with EDS (OK, that may be the world’s worst kept secret). And I force Tony, Glenna, and everyone else at Classic Exhibits to share that obsession. If only there was a 10 step program for an EDS addict?

It’s been a while since we blogged about EDS updates. Here are the major changes.

  1. My Gallery.
    • "" style="width: 300px;"

      My Gallery

Faster: Tony revised the code so clicking on “Add to My Gallery” is faster.

    • Cooler: There’s now a URL option. This one is a little hard to explain until you try it, but copy the URL in the “Send My Selections” tab. Send it in a normal email. When the recipient receives it, it will add the kits to their My Gallery. Perfect for building a gallery between two, three, or 14,561 people.
    • Try Ithttp://www.classicexhibits.com/trade-show-exhibit-design-search/my-gallery/view/6012300/
    • Smarter: You can now send Trade Show Tips via the My Gallery tool.
  2. Product Gallery Headers. We’ve made them much prettier. Larger graphics and a cleaner layout. See Island Designs for example.
  3. Side Menu. On sites with a side menu, there is now a context aware menu for sizes. The Visionary Designs gallery shows it well.
  4. Descriptive Images. This one is brand spanking new. Soon there will be descriptive images showing “Backlighting,” “Reconfigures,” “Portable,” etc. Go to the Tablet Kiosk/Stand gallery where you’ll see the Apple and Windows logos on the thumbnails.
  5. Price Slider. Now you can choose your Low and High when search for prices. Start with the Advanced Search option.

Price Slider

I’m planning an Exhibit Design Search Tips and Tricks webinar this summer to cover this and other new features. Watch for the email in June.
