Duck Duck Eagle

Word on the Street by Kevin Carty

Duck Duck War Eagle!

NO, I am not alluding to the child’s game of “Duck Duck Goose!” I am referring to Monday’s National Championship Game between the Oregon Ducks and the Auburn Tigers.

As you can probably imagine, the State of Oregon is all a buzz over the upcoming game. In my lifetime, I have never seen anything like it in this state. It’s great. And no matter what SEC fans say, this is not going to be some patsy team from the Pacific NW going to Glendale, Arizona to get crushed by the Auburn Tigers. NO, the Ducks are a legitimate Top 10 program in college football. If you are an objective fan of college football, you know that already.

Monday’s game will be an opportunity to finally set the record straight about the PAC 10, soon to be PAC 12. Win or loose, the game will be a close one, and the Oregon Ducks will serve the PAC 10 proud.

Now, I’m not one to want to give away free betting tips; however, this is a new year so I am going to share a free tip for you sports betters out there. You’ll want to remember this whether you bet through a Vegas sports book or you participate in a game day pool.

Elmer Cheney

Not many people know this, so please keep it to yourself.

Did you know that Dick Chaney is an avid Auburn Tigers football fan? Well, if you didn’t, you do now. And you are probably thinking, “what in the world does that have to do with anything?” Well, it’s really very simple . . . .

Dick Cheney is a hunter. In particular, he likes to hunt duck and pheasant. But as we all know based on his past adventures, he’s more likely to shoot a teammate (a.k.a., a fellow hunter) than a duck. Like Dick Cheney, look for the Auburn Tigers to shoot themselves in the foot and the mighty Oregon Ducks to prevail as victors in this Monday’s National Championship.

Also, be sure to enjoy watching Cam Newton in his final college game. If you had not heard, he has opted to take the HUGE pay cut and leave college for the NFL. Ha!!

Enjoy the game. In all seriousness, it should be a good. one.

GO DUCKS!!!

QUACK QUACK!!
